ECU fuse is blowing
I've got an 82 RX7 with Racing Beat exhaust and Holley carb. Recently the Overheat/exhaust system lite came on. Thanks to a forum post the problem was identified as a blown ECU fuse. I replaced the fuse and all was OK for a day then the fuse blew again. The two questions are: Any ideas why the fuse is blowing? Second question: Since I've got a no emissions controls that I know of can the ECU be disconnected? The wiring diagrams have some ignition/tach wires going to the ECU but they may only be inputs only. Thanks!

i would concentrate on finding the short with the emissions wiring. if everything is disconnected check for broken wiring or any exposed wiring that could be grounding itself out on any metal components in the engine bay. what does the wiring look like now?

Good thought. I checked all the emissions wiring and did find one terminal that had it's contact exposed. It measured essentially ground with ignition on but since I haven't figured out it's function it might get power intermittently. I rerouted all wiring to keep it clear and have not had the ecu fuse blow again. The second question remains, however- can the plug to the under dash ecu be disconnected?
