E-fan termo control question

I've got a used Taurus fan and would like to install it soon. I've looked for a temp control module and prices are pretty different depending on whether it is adjustable or just one set temp. There is a $35 difference between one that is adjusted between 160 - 280 and one that just kicks on at 185. I thought the 185 one should do just fine. Am I off base with this? Should I get one that I can adjust the temp on or can I just go with the 185 degree controller?

The one at Advance I saw was $58 for the adjustable. The 185 degree one was $21. That's a hell of a difference.

Odd, mine was 25 less than 18 months ago from them. That is a bit pricey, I would still go with the adjustable though.

the adjustable unit that I got at autozone was 18 bucks, but I had to convince them that they actually had it. They didn't have it out on the shelf, but back behind the counter instead. Works great. Save your money...

So should I get the single setting 185 degree one?

Thumbs up

I would recomend this one from Summit Racing ive had it for 3 years. It's digital so theres no guessing where the fan temp is set for. There is a peak hold function and a temperature gauge. I made an adapter to use it where the choke sensor is on the water neck, so I have 2 temp gauges

I got one from there. It was the TorqFlo controller. Was your the one that has the metal probe that goes in the radiator?

No, This is an actual Digital temp gauge with a fan controller built in. After searching for a while and trying the bulb type this worked good. If you set it for 195 it comes on. There is an 1/8 pipe thread sender to screw in the block or the water outlet like i did. I just had to rethread a brass adapter where the choke sensor on the waterpump housing went.

Yes, but I don't recall the brand name. Cheap at 18 bucks and has worked well for me...

I'm using a thermo switch, 185*, from a volvo... in a volvo rad. but to say I'd just go with the 185* switch. I ran an adjustable and didn't care for it myself. Just my $.02.

I prefer the adjustable ones, it allows some flexability for seasonal changes, and those extra hot or track days. The digital one looks like a nice setup, too bad I already have an aftermarket temp gauge and still use my choke.
