double alt pully

I just need to fill the gap on the back side of the bolt with washers/ a spacer correct? Good catch on that, they must've. Been missing since I bought it last summer, and I wouldn't have noticed.

Impact wrench was the only thing that would get it for me.. I don't have a fan on mine, and before I removed it from the car I tried using an old belt with a pair of vice grips to hold the pulley, and a 1/2 inch breaker bar to get it... no go. Takes less than a second with an impact, and you don't have to hold the pulley or anything. Removing and reinstalling the alternator is simple, 2 bolts, but just remember to put on the correct spacer unlike me!

Is there any trick to seperating the p/s & a/c half of the eccentric shaft pulley from the other half? I just removed the 3 of the 10mm bolts, and loosened the forth. Everything is still in the car, just as pictured above, but i tapped it a few times with my ratchet and it doesn't seem to want to seperate.. Are they seperable on an 85 gsl? I would think so, but It looks like I might have to find some shorter bolts

Yes it is possible and no, I can't remember how I did it (see the photo above).
I do remember pulling the main pulley off and then realizing that I didn't know where the timing marks go when putting it back on, so be sure to mark the pulley on the shaft if you decide to take the whole thing off.

There may be a metal washerlike ring that is used to apply even tension from the bolts to the pulley. This has a tendency to rust to the eshaft and can require a bit of persuasion to remove. best bet is to mark where the timing notches go and get a block of wood and a mallet.
