sorry i don't mean to starting beef with any1, Mike, but i thought the door(s) were the same until like 86 or 87. After thinking about it, i realized that was a pretty stupid post. I found a 2nd(or so i thought) in a salavage yard with power locks, windows, mirrors, etc. So i was wanting to buy it to rape and pillage for doors and other interior parts, but it must have been a 84 or 85 cause *i think* it had different gauges than my 82

You know guys, there are some of us who CAN make a 2nd gen door fit on a 1st gen car! Just 'coz you can't doesn't mean it can't be done. It would look like crap if YOU tried it but if a PROFESSIONAL got a hold of it he would not only mod the door but also fab the rest of the body to make it look right. All you one line idiots are obviously not schooled in the art of bodywork. Think before you post.

so far as i can tell, 79-85 (1st gen, series 1-2)doors are interchangeable. 86 and on you're into custom territory and might as well build your own door from scratch. good luck on adding the power windows/locks!

It was just a quickey to see your temperament...I'm glad to welcome someone whose skin isn't as thin as paper, for once. I apologize for the sledge-hammer introduction...

but they are damn heavy doors....

No problem mar3. I'm Canadian so I'm pretty easy going unless I've got skates on! LOL. 6'2" 220lbs I'm not the fastest on the ice but I hit like a freight train.

anyone know the actual weight specs on 1st gens vs. second gens?

too much gay talk going on. let me run out and rip a door off my second gen and through it on the scale.

toughguy, anything is possible with $$$$$$$$$$, mucho time, and/or mucho skill. however the reasonability of one of us to do this is in very rare likelyhood. so you just talk that master body molding mumbo jumbo and we'll stick to laughing at defenseless members who brain fart.

I`m no master but I think I could do a reasonable job if I was so inclined. Instead of being glued to CNN last night I was watching TLC. (Junkyard Wars Rules) Anyways they had a show called Rides. It was all about Dan Foose and his Hot Rod shop. Those guys are the bodywork masters! The things they can build are unbelievable. Getting off topic here I guess. One thing I would like to attempt is a T-top mod on a 7. Mine has a sunroof so it`s out of the question but I think that would look sharp.

I think the guy was just mistaken on the term "2nd gen". He seems to have meant the 84-85 since it had a different dash then his car.

No. You need to get a Type-R door, it adds at least 20 horse power per door.
