Door Striker Question

Door Striker Question
Is the plate that the door striker screws into captive? In other words, if I completely remove both screws will it stay in place, or will it fall down into the hollow area of the door sill? I believe it's captive, but would rather be sure before removeing both screws.
Thanks,
Rich

I've attached the same picture cropped and not reduced...you can see that there is a plate in behind the door sill.
Thanks,

LOL...no, I just want to get it out of the paint guy's way. Although I probably will clean it up and plate it with Eastwood's plating system. That's what I've been using on most of the hardware.

I had zero luck with that system. It did a few parts and then quit working

i thought so. i also have an L6 car. would you be willing to scan the window sticker or take a picture of it and email it to me? i really like my L6 car, which i bought hit hard in the front and am repairing. im a fan of the L6 and would like to gather some literature regarding the ocean blue metallic color and your window sticker would really help me out. i also wanted to know if you had any pics of the car that you'd like to share.

Sure...I'll try to get a good picture of the window sticker later. I switched all my computers to Linux and my scanner isn't supported by Linux, so I can't scan it. I've attached a few pictures of the car. It won't be L6 much longer...almost ready to take to the body shop to get a fresh coat of a dark blue...haven't decided the exact shade yet.

I hadn't done any plating since I finished the MG about 5 years ago, but now that I've been doing it again I've thought of a couple of things that may help with your plating. You have to keep the anode clean. After 4 or 5 pieces I'll take it out of the electrolyte and clean off the black crust that builds up on the part that's submerged...I just use the edge of a screwdriver. Also, whatever you use to attach to the piece being plated (a wire or a clip) will get a crusty buildup of plating that needs to be cleaned off periodically. And of course you have to make sure you have good batteries.
