Door seal leak

I've been getting water leaking in (when raining) at the front of the door, about 8 inches up from the bottom of the window. I replaced the seals over a year ago with the A-1 ebay deals, they seem quite a bit larger than the stock ones. The passenger door is fine , but on the drivers side, the seal hits the top and back of the door opening slightly, somtimes knocking it out of it's track.
My question is, is there an adjustment where the hinge mounts to the body of the car? I think the driver door is 1/16" farther back than the right side, maybe just enough to cause a leak. I beleive the fender has to come off to access the bolts, so I thought I'd check with you guys before I do all that.

Thanks.

I don't have a repair manual in front of me right now, but I believe that the door is adjustable. Also, the hinge pin might just be worn out.

You might find the information in the FSM link located in the FAQ. Good luck!

You are on the right track. Before you pull the fender, check the door gaps all the way around. Check for both width of the gap and any planer offset between the door and the adjoining panel. These should be all the same. If they are not, the body hinges should give you the adjustment you need.

If there is a step between the door and the fenders, the door side of the hinges and the body striker will take care of those.

I had a similiar problem with mine, turned out the window frame was pulled out too far at the front upper corner. Takes a bit of practice to bend one back correctly.

Ya, I tried bending the window frame first, it did make tighter at the top(where it was also loose). Played with the striker too, only to get shitty sounding door closeings, also the door wouldn't be lined up properly. I think it's O.K. depth wise (planer?), if I move it forward, it should be tighter at the front, and it shouldn't hit at the rear anymore (did measure 1/6" difference with calipers) . Just the top near the rear, maybe if I lower the rear a little it won't hit, and the door will just be a fraction low at the back.

No info about adjusting the door itself in the FSM.

Thanks for the fast responses guys!
I'll try and tackle it this wkend.
