I know on my husbands turbo II S4 you can't even downshift and get it into a gear if you are going to fast. I have seen him drop it down but I wasn't paying attention to the speed or anything but I know most the time it won't allow it to go in. Sorry to hear you blew the car

never done it
I popped it into nuetral while slowing down, and the turn was more than 90 degrees, so I had to take it at around 20 miles per hour, so I put it in second as I was taking the turn. No grinding of gears.

Too dumb of a move to even support a reply from any of us. He does not deserve any car if he is going to drive like that. Hope he is not on my highways in MI

I don't know why you are bagging on him, it just means more cheap parts are going to be floating here on the forum for me to buy up

what i meant was say for examle travelling at 55-60mph in fifth gear or evan 4 at 45 you couldnt just chuck it into 2gear would be hard to put it in would grind or just blow gearbo or apex seal as stated lol dont wanna start a debate

but what you have writen is just normal any sain driver would do that or pull the had brake for a qwick turn

im not flaming the dude well trying not to but it just sounds really bad all the best tho but we all need another parts car

s5 has a way longer 1st gear. second goes to about 58-60mph the 8000 rpm redline. FBs are at 7k redline at 50mph in second

However he stated he was trying to catch the other car, so he was accelerating, at 55 in 2nd, which means more rpm, that is not an assumption its what he stated. Its still stupid in either car, it wasn't going to accelerate in 2nd.

yeah seeing 55 is 2nds limit and would cause to redline instead or just accell in 3rd ut was pretty pointless and ended in sadness

You should not blow an apex if you down shift properly. I do stuff like that sometimes, but I do it smart. When you shift in tosecond, before you drop the clutch you got to rev up. Second at 90ish kmh or 55mph is near usles, unless, you are about to drift, engine break, or enter a corner.
