Does anyone have a cb in their rx?
Being from Kansas, and generally being a redneck , i put a CB in my car, to bullshit with truckers and see if any speed traps are ahead, and i intend to install a bearcat scanner and a Business band radio. Anyone else out there have any 2-way systems in their car?

It's called a cell phone.

I was just about to take on the CB installation myself actually...Im still trying to figure out where I can put the CB and it not be so obvious. Im also trying to decide what kinda of antenna to use. I dont want some 8 foot whip antenna, I need something small, yet still functional...The reason for doing this is because we have property in Gold Bar, a small town up the highway a ways, and the main means of communication up there is CB, seeing as cell phones get not so good reception there. So, with me needing to be able to keep in contact with my family, I kinda need a CB eventually, so I thought Id throw it in my car. I also have lots of friends that 4x4, and they use em a lot too, so it would be nice to be able to keep in contact with them too .

I mounted my cb ( A Corba 19 plus, got it for like $5) in the top hole under the ac/heater control and have my stero in the bottom hole. I guess you could do the opposite. There are glass mount antenas (they look like cell phone antenas) that are pretty good.

the best bet is a mag. mount,,,a K40 is good.
the hand helds are pretty good too these days.
but why play with 11 meter (am) stuff, when the
10 meter(fm) stuff these days are cheaper, and better.
with the 10 meters the antenna is a tiny 1-2 inch
rubber duck

When the antenna is shorter it is because of some type of loading scheme was used to get it that short, generally a coil. Just look at that base of the K40 antenna. That big black thing with the logo is the loading coil. Some of your power output is lost in that coil as the signal travels around it before it actually reaches the radiating element.
Also, unless you have an amateur radio license, 10m is restricted to amateur radio use only though with the current sunspot cycle being at its peak there seems to be an increase in pirate activity around the fringe areas of the frequency band and I know of 11m (CB) radios being sold that are extremely easy to modify to also transmit on 10m which is of course...lets all say it together....illegal without license due to the governing body of our radio spectrum the FCC.

Woah, all that made no sense to me...lol . I was just thinking of using an OLD 23 channel (which are also illegal I believe) and some kinda antenna, tune with SWR and call it good. I also saw something that can let you use your car stereo antenna for a CB antenna...Could it work? I think I could try that, its like $20, and then I wouldnt need a seperate antenna...

PS - I also have a newer Radio Shack 40 channel, I just liked/wanted the vintage look on the old radio .
