Wow yeah I HATE it when peeps slam my door. So I tell the passanger to close to door easy when they exit and enter. OR I could just not give any more rides.

Everyone has this problem, too, then? A girl once copped an attitude when I asked her, politely, not to slam the door.
The assembly plants actually do collect data for door closure efforts, now; especially for the elderly car market. I'm employed by an automotive sealing manufacturer, and you'd be surprised of the amount of focus is placed on door closure efforts.

Ford didn't own Mazda when our cars came out though. I think it started in the mid 90s, hence the reason you see Ford Probes, Mazda Tributes, Mazda B200 Trucks, and etc.

I have given a few people a ride in my car. The only 2 people managed to close the door gently. My dad (car nut like me), and my friend (another car nut). My sister, mom, and a few other people all slammed the door. On multiple occasions too. I have to tell them EVERY time, yet they still slam the door.

Ford joined up with mazda in the early 90's. If you ever look at a 91 and up escort, it uses a lot of the same interior parts as the 1st gen RX-7.

Interesting to know about that about Escort parts. Not meaning to hijack the thread, but the revised Cougar was also a joint Ford / Mazda of which I believe was assembled in Flatrock, Mich. and very Probe-like.

I'm a slammer. Just a flip of the wrist as I walk away without even looking back.

Better to slam, then to have to press the door closed, which bends the panel or the window frame, depending on what you're pushing on.

What annoys me are people that lean on an open door. That *will* tweak the hinges.

It goes way further back.

The Mercury Tracer from the 80's was a rebadged 323. Not rebodied and re-engined like the '91-96 Escorts, it was a 323 with Mercury badges.

And then there's the Ford Courier pickup from the 70's, which was a Mazda B-series.

Really pisses me off about the Escort, though. To get a Quaife diff (only limited slip available, unless the Mazdaspeed Protege diff fits) you can't get it from Quaife USA. Mazda Motorsports or whatever their nom du jour is has exclusive distribution rights. You HAVE to race a Mazda to buy *anything* from Mazda Motorsports. How are you supposed to get a Quaife for your street driven ZX2?

I dont understand whats so hard about holding the handle up while closing the door. But no one can get it. when i have someone with me and were getting out im like, "you have to hold the door handle up while you close it" and theyre like, "huh?" Then they try and they dont close the door all the way or something.

So now i just say' "leave the door open" and I walk around and do it myself.

Ofcourse i have a couple friends who ride with me often and can handle the difficult task

Angry

I gave my sister a ride to pick up her Passat and when she got out she nearly fu*%$^(n broke my ear drums! This is in my Protege GT.
I swear I almost lost it!
I would have never heard the end of it if I chewed her *** out so I let it go but MAN I HATE THAT!!!

I swear most women should have a mandatory car care seminar when they are 16. I said most women not all, before I get flamed.

Okay. How 'bout a solution to the window track problem? Any got one other than pop-a-cap in whoever slams your doors? I was thinking that replacing mine would fix the problem but someone else just mentioned they bought new parts and didn't fix the problem. Mine have problems going up/down even (without) slamming the door........

Talking

I've had the same problem now for awhile, and it drives me nuts.... Once getting out of the car at a shopping center where I live, a fried that I told many times not to slam the door, slammed it so hard, that he knocked off whatever linkage connects the door unlocking mechanism, and the passenger door would not unlock. And at the time the drivers door lock was down too. So what did I do? I made him crawl thru the hatch and unlock it. He doesn't slam doors no more in my ride.

Ohhh my god people do NOT get me started on the doors ... You know when you work work work on your car, just to get it perfect, everything works 100 % .. then you have this ******* friend who gets in the car with his big bag full of metal clips and **** attached to it, scratches the door, dashg a bit , then slams the door, has his foot on the little pouch in the door ? And I tell his .. please stop that it's a PITA ! he always says .. ahh your soo stuckup it's just a car .. I'm like: it's a 20 yr old car you can't find parts for NE more!

He has a speedbike .. so I went and I sat on his bike and fooled arround with all the buttons .. he's like .. WTF ARE YOU DOING ? I'm like .. what ? your stuckup it's just a bike :P

NE ways ... that and most women who do not comprehend that a door is designed to almost shut itself ... It's not cuz you slam it that it's closed better ... NE ways , I feel your pain ;P

I've found most people slam them more often as they are getting into the car...they just grab that handle and yank! I usually just get it moving a little and it shuts just fine. Very little force is required, and my window works most of time, after some adjustment.

Right on.

Yup, most people are used to closing Toyotas and VWs. Rx-7 doors will basically close themselves.

Do people slam my doors - yes!

My wife got in strife for slamming the doors once - but she knows now. After driving my RX-7 daily for 2.5 years, she really knows.

One of my friends *opened* the passengers door so hard it bounced back at her! So, naturally, she pushed it hard again before getting out and slamming it closed! Arrgh! A five minute lesson in correct door closing procedure followed.

Whoever said the doors practially close themselves is right - mine just need the tiniest nudge from about 3" out to click quietly closed.

I once slammed the door closed on a car (when I was 10 and angry at my Mum) so hard that the glass shattered.
