Not so much of a weird thing one person says, but an observation.
Alot of the "tuner" car guys I talk to, with Civics, or 240sxs, or whatever, the more popular platforms, say they don't like the platform. They say its old, has a solid rear axel, and is a carbed rotary. (The forget that the beloved AE86 has two of the three of those properties)
But then lots of every day people, either casual car enthusiasts, the people that buy sporty cars, or just average people typically love the car. They say it looks cool, freak out on the pop-ups, and are amazed when you describe the motor.
So every one loves it except the car enthusiasts.

I have heard the piston thing before. I have had an argument eith the lady at the DMV about it, not suprising sence she can't be the VIN number right... it is an FB not F3.
I'm still stupid when it comes to these cars. I need a place to work on it at. Maybe i will get a house soon so that i can do an engine rebuild or something.

All of the older people I know; ie, teachers, parent's friends, etc... they all know the 1st gen. In fact, you can say 3 out of 4 of them actually wanted one when they first came out.
I hate the fact that more younger people are buying and knowing about rx7's because of Initial D and ****. When the same people who ask me about what kind of 7 I have, I would reply with "Its a 79' 1st Gen..." and their question after that is "Wait.. what? So is it a FC or FD?"
People tell me that I'm still young, 18, but I was around the rotary since elementry school when my brother had 5 rx7's.

The funniest thing I've ever heard, was my Dad telling me that this was the first car he had ever seen with the carb mounted to the transmission. And I love the guy out work telling me about when the second gens came out, they offered them with a V6 instead on a inline 6. Yeah, that was some funny ****, when I explained to him the difference between MAZDA RX7.........and NISSAN 300ZX! Dumbass.

hmmm I'm surprise that no one said "how much oil does it burn? I hear they take quite a bit"
As far as the educating part, i'm always happy to explain whats under the hood. Lol I've got one of my coworker which doesn't know anything about cars, everytime anyone says anything about the sound of my muffler he says for me "Oh thats just the sound of Rotary" and I have to take it on from there .lol.
