You know I had thought about the turbo idea and I did not think about getting the stock manifold cut and rewelded I was also thinking of putting a presiliser on the manifold side then running across to the other side and putting a muffler that would fit.

I thought about doing that too, but it adds weight and complexity to run the pipes to the other side. My friend's baja had that as a long primary with RB presilencers and it was around 100 pounds and didn't do anything for low end torque even though it should have, nor did it have any appreciable high end HP even though it should have as well. Of course it was a streetported 4 port 13B with a holley so yeah it really should have had at least some good high end.
Yeah, street ported in an application that needs lots of low end. Should have been no larger than 74 spec. This same engine screamed in his REPU but was a gutless joke in his baja. Probably the gearing had a lot to do with it. The vehicle's weight probably did too, although the REPUs are heavy.
So you see my problem. I don't want the same gutless setup his baja had, and having already tested mine with two different 13Bs, and being disapointed in both, maybe the turbo really is the best choice for me? Heck I don't need it for any other vehicle at the moment and it was recently tested after its rebuild and it checked out ok just reving it (it lacked an exhaust and a charge pipe etc so I couldn't drive it).
Anyway the turbo is installed in the baja and test cranked with the oil lines hooked up.
