Distributor wiring

Ok, i have searched and all i can find is threads arguing about why or why not to carb your 2nd gen that used to be fuel injected.

I placed this thread here because your cars have distributors and the car is have (2nd gen) don't.

I need to know what do wire my condenser to.

I have my coils mounted and ready to go, carbs on, everything.

If someone can just break down the wiring real simple (i know its not that hard) i just don't wanna screw this up cause my engine bay is show quality, i will post up a pic in a little.

Thanks for the help and if you need me to clarify please ask.

Thanks,

Alex

On an 81-85 distributor there are 2 ignitors. The one towards the front of the car is for the leading ignition. The one towards the right (from driver's seat) of the car is for the trailing ignition. Each ignitor has 3 metal tabs facing up. The L shaped one is just a locating tab. The other 2 are configured in a T shape. The terminal at the top of the T is negative while the one at the bottom is positive. Each coil has a positive and negative terminal marked + and -. Connect the + terminal from the leading ignitor to the + terminal on the leading coil and the - to the - terminal on the leading coil. Same for trailing. Find a switched 12v source and connect it to the + terminal on both coils.

Condensor connects to the + terminal of the leading coil in stock configuration. Quiets radio interferance.
