Unhappy did i bust an apex seal on my gsl-se?

what are the characteristics of a busted seal??? can't idle...low idle...smoking...loss in power...? can you guys list characteristics of a busted seal? i don't want to think mine is but i'm having some issues with power loss...

yest i was driving fine and all of the sudden i get a drop in power...

specifics:

1984 GSL-SE
160k miles
i changed over to 2nd gen direct fire 2 weeks ago...i've since switched it back replacing the ignitor as well.
the problem started just after i got a full tank of gas (would i get this if the gas has water in it?)
i tryed pouring dry-gas down the tank...no help
i noticed my clutch fan not kick on but then again...my temp gauge is at normal temp
the car still turns on no prob...just rough low idle and loss in power...

i'm planning on taking it for a compression test soon as well as seeing if a rotary mechanic near by can find the problem...

PLEASE HELP here's another post about it...

What color is the smoke? If it's dark colored and/or smells like gas or oil (blue tint), then you may just have a rotor not firing correctly. Based on your ignition mods, I'd suspect this first.

The other suggestion I may have would be to pull on the front wiring harness behind the waterpump when it's doing this and see if it's an intermittent fuel injector pigtail. On my 84SE, the rear rotor fuel injector plug was intermittent, resulting in the 'running-on-one-rotor' syndrome. Quickly replaced both injector plugs with Borg-Warner replacements for $7 at Autozone and fixed the problem.

A broken apex seal will result in lost power, but it will also result in lost compression - only way to tell is through a quality compression test other than the shade-tree mechanic - poof test. Remove plugs and turn the engine over and you should hear 3 strong puffs from the plug holes as the engine turns (do one rotor at a time). If you only hear 1 puff, then you may have an apex seal stuck or gone.

Fuel filter is a good bet (read your other thread). Have a look at these and reply back,
