I also have an '80. It's a Colorado car w/no AC fitted anywhere on the car but it still had the studs. I'm going to use those and a '79 A/C bracket to mount a second alternator for my upcoming monster stereo. My car is also non-power steering like yours, so I can say for sure that you're looking at A/C bracket studs for the compressor.

Ok, lets get this right
Power steering was only available on '84-85 RX7's only as an add on option for GSL and GSL-SE's. As GSL-SE's were the flagship in those years, dealers mostly ordered them WITH power steering to increase profit. So a non Power Steering GSL-SE are not very common.
I drove my beloved '79 Lmt Edition for years and years. But always wished for Power Steering every time I had to parallel park or lane change in stop and go. So when I was shopping for a GSL-SE to restore a year ago, getting one with Power Steering was HIGH on my wish list. Also makes it friendly to my wife and kids to drive. Still trying to decide whether to install the rear seat kit I found at the wrecking yard recently......
Obvious counterpoint is the speed racers. Less feel of the road, HP drain.
Drive well.

Get rid of the P/S. Even with a 13" dia. steering wheel and 205/50/15s up front, I have no problem cranking it at crawling speeds or parking in tight spaces. It is the very antithesis of a sports car like the rex to have it. The car simply is not heavy enough to justify it. No, I'm not a bear of a fellow but I'm not as small as Cristiano da Matta, either.

i LOVE the way mine feels without the power steering!! i think i can "feel the road" alot more. plus i think it handles and responds better without p/s. then again ive never drove a rx7 with p/s. im just going by my experiences with other cars with p/s.

I didn't say I was a mouse man, either. I guess I have an advantage because I'm an ex-UPS driver and was to used to the old behemoths before the diesels came in with their P/S. Got some nice wrists and lats from the 7 year workout as a driver. Glad I'm outta that company, though...

I used to like manual, but after driving my 88 vert, I think I prefer the P/S LOL The P/S seems to be less active the faster you go in the 2nd gen... But its really nice in those parking lots and slow speed...
But when I drive my 80 or 85, my arms and chest sure look bigger LOL

Seriously. I can drive mine with 0 offset rims and 205/60 R-compounds (read: high scrub radius and tons of grip) and parallel park with one hand, but road race it and I can't lift my arms over my head the next day 'cos of the awful seats. The only time it even begins to feel heavy is at parking speeds. Performance driving is not done at parking speeds... well you have an FC so maybe YOURS is... j/k
