Dellorto Needle Valve

I recently rebuilt and installed my Dellorto 48mm DHLA. When got the rebuild kit from cbperformance.com, they told me that they only had needle valves up to 225, not the Racing Beat prescibed 300. So, I looked at Eurocarb's website and they only go up to 225 too, but they have a 350 as well. So I emailed Grower and Lee to ask them about the 300 and they gave me the following reply:

The 300 needle valve is no longer available. This has been replaced by the 350 cross drill viton n/valve.

Ok, first off, what is the difference between a cross drill viton valve and a normal one? Also, will I be better off running the 225 or the 350.... I'm guessing 350, right? Finally how should I adjust fuel pressure (or anything else) to compensate for the change? Thanks in advance,

Alex Conway

I think most people reuse the RB one.

Could you bring the 225 to a machine shop and have it drilled out, does that make any sense?

Yeah, I might just reuse the RB one, it seems alright. I read Des Hammill's book and he recommended always replacing it, so being quite new to everything, it seemed to be a good idea. I'm still curioues what a cross drill viton valve is if anyone will humor me.... Thanks

So, did you use the 225 or what, seeing as how you reinstalled it already.

Yeah, I used the 225, but I want to replace it, since I don't know how to conpensate for its smaller size. With the RB recommended size comes a recommended fuel pressure too.
