dellorto fuel pressure question?

So i just bought a gsl with 48dhla on an s4 6 port with the sleeves removed. The PO was running without a regulator and the car would bog. Its at 3.5 psi, so i went and bought a mister gasket fuel pressure regulator#9710 adjustable from 1 to 5 psi. I have been thru 4 of them and none of them are consistent. 1 worked but it leaked from the adjusting ****. The other 3 won't get my fuel pressure under 3 psi. I need it at about 2psi.it runs cherry rite there!

My question is what fuel pressure regulator is everybody using with their Dellortos?

i used a Carter pump with a Holley (1 to 4 psi) regulator when i ran my Dell'Orto.

im gunna look into that! i re-sealed the original regulator i bought and it works pretty good but just looks so cheap i know its set to fail in the near future. All other regulators were in the wrong range and none adjusted low enough to where i needed them but i am definately gunna look at the holley before this one fails me! Thanks!

Don't use the Mr. Gasket piece of crap, not only do they not work they also restrict the flow
significantly. Ask me how I know

I use the holley 1-4 as well on my Dell. Setting it to 3.5 is almost more than the Dell likes.
Mine is around 3 I think. I say I think because the gauge is a liquid filled 1-15 and at that
low of a setting its not always accurate.

I adjust mine by engine sound. Get it good and hot and slowly crank it open until the idle
changes a bit and then crank back 1/4 turn and leave it alone.

mine seemed to be happy at around 3 psi as well. it took me a few weeks to accept it, but the fact is that's where the engine performed best in the lower RPM ranges.

fuel, fuel pumps, reg

I have a Dellorto Carb on a 1989 13B with the port sleeves removed. The car has racing beat header and exhaust, i use two 4 psi facet fuel pumps. They pressure regulator is set a 3.5. The car runs fine. if i didn't have two fuel pumps the car could starve after a few minute of hard acceleration. I think my Dellorto mauel recommended 3psi.
