that darn clock
i needed to install a new antenna wire in the car which obviously involved removing the trim panel and the assorted stuff attached to it. i must have disturbed the natural order of things because prior to all this my clock worked great, afterwards only the hour displayed. i bought a used clock off ebay and it had one dead/faded digit itself. i recalled i had a new in box autometer "hot rod" style clock in the garage from another ill fated project, so with a little trickery and effort installed it complete with the correct color illumination. i honestly like the way it looks, but hey, flame on if you want

You did great! A lot of people would get one of those cheap digital watches, remove the band and stick it on the dead clock face with tape.
I think that looks OK, but it would be better if you could match the AC ***** with trim rings (or maybe paint the trim ring on the new clock so it matches the panel it's mounted to)
