Damn racing beat exhaust is TIGHT!

I just got drive my car today for my first time this spring since last fall, I had put in a knew clutch and full racing beat exhaust(I have to pump the clutch sometimes to get it into gear) however, my car accereates so much quicker. I had a stock 12a gsl 85 and my top end used to be very depressing, around 165-170 km/h. I got to test my car on the highway today and it was still climbing after 190km/h so that was an improvement. Exhaust on a 7 helps tons!

Ya the racing beat system is awesome, but please don't do that kind of speeds (or at least be super damn careful) on public roads...

well c the thing is latter down the road ild be going turbo but would 3" be to bad for a n/a i know on a piston it needs back pressure or it will just go slower how dose this affect a rotary?

The only kind of backpressure that is beneficial is when you're getting a massage. It has no place in a rotary exhaust system.

Is that true of ALL rotaries, NA or Turbo? I have to believe that SOME backpressure helps. I'm 100% new to Rotary power, so it's a serious question.

There is no time when you'd want backpressure on a rotary, with the sole and single exception of actuating the 6port valve thingies on the -SE.

With 12a, the more free flow, the better.

With an -SE with the 5th and 6th ports wired open, ditto.

Stock SE that needs to have good gas mileage and pass emissions, nope.

RB system is awesome.

Proper exhaust tuning requires proper exhaust pulses and the resulting vacuum that aids scavenging. This is often referred to as 'backpressure' as a tuned exhaust helps generate the required pulses. It's quite similar to the Dynamic Effect chamber on the intake of GSL-SE 1st gens and on 2nd gen RX-7s.

If you want real performance, use the RB road race header to a collector then 3" all the way back. If you think 3" isnt any good, then tell the real racers so.
