Damn fuses... Need help lol
Hey evrybody. I got this tinny little problem that drives the heck out of me and I was wondering if anybody can help me with it.
Within the first 5-10 minutes of me starting the car, If I give it too much gas, I blow the 20A engine fuse, which actually has the gas pump hooked up to it. Now all of you know a rex (or any car :P) Doesn't go to far without a gas pump ! If you guys need anymore details to help me solve it, PLEASE ASK ! ... I have spent 15-20$ in fuses within 2 months, that's 120$ a year FOR FUSES ! :P
Thanks alot guys ( and girls ) ,
Eric.

U need to get a wiring diagram and find out what else is on that circuit. Will it run at idle for a long period of time and only blowing fuses on acceleration? Assuming ur car is a later model, u may have a TPS or something that is shorting out at a certain position. Just my guess.

Mine is an 84 GSL. I tried figuring it out, put it will only do it if I give it a big sudden push on the peddle in the 1st 5-10 min. I can`t floor it for the first couple of minutes , then it`s ok. I have even rewired my gas pump with a new wire all the way under the steering column but I still get the same problem.
:S:S
Thx alot guys !

Eric,
Next time you're over I'll take out the Heynes and we can check that circuit.. Just remind me...
But also, does anyone have any idea of what, (other than a grounding problem) would cause something like that? Could one of the electrical parts on that circuit be going bad itself?

By the sound of the problem the fuel pump is only a syptom of the actual problem. I have to agree with rxtasy3. There is some thing other then the fuel pump that is causing the fuse to blow. Find out what else is on that circet and go from there. If the pump was bad it would draw high amps all the time not just in the time you have discribed.
Good luck
