I see.

So by desinging a mannifold, the intake can be tuned for higher/lower RPM horse power, much like the exahust.

Quite a nice advantage for sure. Well then what about making a mannifold with something like a dynamic chamber to help redirect the intake pulse to add more of a "ram" effect? Just like the later Rex's have the DEI.

Honeslty I think making the shape in foam and then laying the fiber wouldn't be all that hard. I'm pretty sure I could do it but, I don't have much of an idea as to how long the intake pipe should be, or where the dynamic chamber would have to go.

Any ideas on the specifics? Ideas about the power gains involved in such a mannifold? Would it be worth my time to make such a thing.

Always interested in a cool new project!

Exactly Sammy. Just like exhaust, dia and length will dictate the power band. I dont know why the DEI works, but Im sure you could incorporate it if you wanted to. I suspect much of the Weber power gains are from the manny flowing better and is longer than the stock ones, yeilding more low end grunt.

What about it? Its unaffected by anything outside the ports.

Well I know that mazda used the DEI to take advantage to the rotary engine's intake reversion waves. By adding the larger volume chamber, the reversion waves were reflected back into the intake which forces more air into each intake charge.

I'm not sure what kinda' length would be more beneficial or how large a DEI would be necessary but, it definately sounds interesting.

Interesting, but would be very hard to duplicate without any of Mazdas test data.
