a cure for emissions
hello everyone im so excited today i found a cure for that problematic emissions test .a friend/mechanic told me today his brother in law had a half of tank of gas and put 2 gallons of alchol fuel in it and the dmv guy said ive never seen a car that old run so clean, the reason why is because methenol(alcohol fuel)has no hydrocarbons.ive not tried it in a rotary yet but im going to tommorow, its about 7 bucks a gallon around here but its a heck of alot less than fixing the emmision system, ill let you guys know how it went

Alright well true that Methanol willl lower your hydrocarbons on emissions however you have a few inaccuracies. First of all methanol is a hydrocarbon hydrocarbons are an organic compound consisting only of carbon and hydrogen.
They all consist of carbon backbone and atoms of hydrogen attached to that backbone
Methonals combustion process:
2 CH3OH + 3 O2 → 2 CO2 + 4 H2O
The end result is water and carbon dioxide.
In relation to gasoline which is a much more complex process of combusion, hower still relying on the hydrocarbon. We are not simply using pure Oxygen when we have combustion, there is also Nitrogen, Oxygen and argon, with trace amounts of other gases. This is where you get Your Oxides of nitrogen levels, which you saw were particularly low for your engine because they occour at higher comubstion temperatures 2500 degrees. The added methanol changed the stoichometic ratio of the gasoline from 14.7:1 by weight, and stoich ratio of 6.4:1 (much more gas) lets say your running 20% Methanol to 80% Gasoline. It also slows down flame propgation and gives you a higher AKI. I have to go for dinner if you want more info just email me at mark_biernacki@hotmail.com

another trick is to take the hose off theback of the air pump and connect it to the pipe that goes to the cat it will also test clean.

The reason methanol works is that smog test equipment measures the level of NON-Methyl Organic compounds. IE, the hydrocarbons that are not Methane, thus, if you put methane in, you get methane out, your HC readings go down.

Can I just pour 2 gallons of methanol into my gas tank? Is this going to be ok for the fuel system? Will the car drive ok? Has anyone done it? Any consequences to be aware of?

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The car has to be 25 or older in wasington in order to bypas the emissions test forever .

I tought that if you ran alcohol for fuel it would detiorate all of the rubber it touches. That's why Holley makes special carbs for alcohol +filters & fuel lines have to be compatible for alcohol use. just wondering.

Thanks delrx7 and dan atkins for sharing that info. I gotta do
the emmisions on my SE in March. Sounds a lot cheaper than
giving the emmisions guy $20 under the table.

So mixing 3 gallons of methanol with half a tank of gas will be ok then? Would I need to drain what's left in the tank after the test or will it be dilluted enough?
