cruise vaccum leak = high idle?

One of the t-connectors that connects three vaccum hoses on the mound is missing. Thus I have three vaccum hoses going nowhere. I just noticed this.

About a year or two ago I had some body work done on my car, on the front end. When I got it back from the dealer it was idling high, about 1500 RPM. I couldn't figure it out so I adjusted it down via the throttle screw (it still idles high). In addition at this time I noticed my cruise no longer worked.

One of the hose goes to the diaphragm that controls the cruise control cable. So, could it be the link to my high idle and lack of cruise control is the vaccum leak there?

Right on-

I would say that they are caused by the same thing. A vacuum leak could cause the idle to increase and you will need the vacuum line to the cruise hooked up to get it to work. It should hook into the metal vacuum line that is third from the fire wall.

Cruise

Is it possible to hook the cruise vacuum hose back up after you have removed the rats nest. What happens if you hook the cruise vacuum line straight to the carb.

Hey Brownmound- Sorry, I don't have any info on your epidemic - I'll leave that to the experts- but I love the look of your 7. What are the specs on your wheels & tires. I want my tires to fill the car out like yours. *****!

I'm not sure can't hurt anything. Give it a try and let us know. I wouldn't mind getting rid of my rats nest, it would sure make things neater under the hood.

Unfortunately that isn't my car on my image...somone elses...the wheels and tires do look dang good though.

Well I fixed the vaccum leak and the cruise works now...just need to tweak all of the idle adjustments to get things running right.
