CRAP!!! I locked my keys in the 7

Yup, I locked my only key in my car. The only reason its my only key is that home depot and walmart and everyone else say they cant make that kind of key.

Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions on how to get them out. This Sucks.

If your car is anything like mine you should be able to crawl in through the rust hole under the driver's side storage bin

Also, I've never heared on anybody having trouble geting theit key copied befor, that's strange

Getting into a 1st gen is not that tough. But I am not going to get into that here. Pay the tow truck guy $25 to 'slim jim' your passenger door, takes less than 1 minute to do.

John

Oh yea, go to a real locksmith for them to make you 2 new keys. Walmart......eeeekk

hey, a slim jim, a wedge to go between the glass and the door, and a flashlight will make a 30 second job out of it. If you need a new slim jim tho, I sell them for 8 bucks shipped.

A brick works good. Sorry I had to do that. I have locked my keys in my car many times and it sucks every time.

Have you ever tried using other random keys in your hatch lock? I have been able to open the hatch on all of my rx7's with random keys

I have the one I use, one in my bedroom, and one in my wallet.

That, and I can use a coat hanger like nobody's business. Among my friends, at Starbucks (where I chill in the afternoons watchin the ladies), and at the bar that I regularly frequent, I've become the locksmith.

When I had my keys locked in the seven I stucka coat hanger underneath the door handle and opened in that way just have someone hand to hold the door handle open.

Back when my car was my dad's daily driver, he locked the keys in the car one time when we were out buying fireworks. So, he looked around, found a nice, straight stick and whittled it down. Opened the door just fine. Heh. It was quite a humorous event.

Just an idea...
You could make a "slim Jim" out of a hack saw blade using a grinder.
Grind the teeth down and bevel the edge (to keep from scratching ****), and use the corner of the grindeing wheel to grind into the end of the blade where the hole is.

I locked myself out once, and it was pouring rain and the wife & I were out at a fancy restaraunt.
Ever since, I've carried a spare key in my wallet (I cut the plastic off the key so I barely know it's there).
I've had to use it three times in two years.
