A couple new pics

Nothing exciting, but things are starting to really get done on my car. 6puck dual friction clutch is finally in

Turbo hat I had made at Mid-Ohio Products(dad is high up there, things are free ) Exhaust measurements are all taken and I'll have it done soon. It is 2.5'', Moroso SpiralFlow presilencer, Megan Racing 2.5'' inlet, 3.5'' outlet rear muffler - 2.5'' hole straight through it, stainless packing around it. The exhaust is VERY free-flowing.

Almost all other parts are from Robert ( www.rotaryshack.com ) And I'll be finished soon after I recieve the last few parts from him

I'll post up more pics as I take them.

Wow, looks good man, I like the clean look of everything... Try and keep it like that . I just spent some hellacious time out cleaning my engine bay, inner fenders and what all today while it was still nice out .

Looking good. What blow off valve are you going to use? I'm assuming that you'll be mounting it somewhere along the intercooler piping eh? What size turbo is that btw?

The turbo is the stock one from a TII. Intercooler piping? I'm too poor to have an intercooler, I'll have a pipe straight from the turbo to the carb hat. I'm also too poor for a blowoff valve, it's not needed, so I won't have one. It's just a barebones turbo setup, for now. Once I get some more $$ after doing this, then I'll get an intercooler and BOV.

I would recommend a 3" exhaust all the way or at least from the downpipe. It makes a difference in turbo cars. You should always use a blowoff valve. It'll make your turbo spool up faster and protects the turbo from stress. Just use the stock TII blowoff valve, those work fine and cheap.

I agree, and then save up for a decent smaller sized IC.

You could always just front mount a stock T2 IC also...Theyre pretty cheap to get a hold of...

A BOV won't really make the turbo spool faster, but it does make it so there is less stress put on the turbo when you shift. I have NO money left after doing this, but as soon as I can I will be adding an intercooler and bov.

very clean looking. looks good. you should probably ball up a paper towel or something of that nature and put it in the 2 openings of the compressor housing so no dirt and debris gets in there. let us know how you like that clutch.

The clutch seems like it will be very nice. It's from www.southbendclutch.com 6puck dual friction w/sprung center.

2.5'' exhaust will be good for my setup, and I already had the muffler and presilencer in 2.5''. I also removed the rear sway bar and will be running the exhaust under the rear axel.

It makes it spool faster between shifts.

Here's a pic of how I mounted the boost gauge, I had to grind the plastic around it a tiny bit for it to fit.

really nice looking set up. cant wait to see the finished project. Can your pops make another carb hat?

OK BOV basics. here you go. your driving 90 to nothing let your foot off the gas pushing in the clutch at the same time. whooosh goes the aftermarket BOV. the stock bov just shoots it back into the intake before the turbo.
So what just happened? your foot came off the gas.... In a carb your primaries and secondaries are closed now. but there is still boost from the turbo in the intercooler piping building up pressure. Just a little the exhaust is slowing down but the turbo is still spinnning. the bov just let it out. Now here is what happens without a BOV. that boost that is caught between the closed primaries/secondaries and the turbo is stuck it only has one way to go back to the turbo. back to the turbo it goes. now the turbo is a turbine desined to move air in one direction but now there is little power from the exhaust and a boost bubble if you will in the intake piping. so that bubble releases it presure back on the turbo making the turbine spin in the opposite direction it was made to move air in. the turbo lag as you will is you exhaust coming back up to power and trying to get the turbo spinning in the right direction again.

So in actuality it doesnt make the turbo spool faster it just doesnt let it slow down/spin the wrong way as much and reduces stress on the turbine shaft.

Hope this was enlightening
Sean

He might be able to, not sure. For there to be a chance I would need an exact measurement of the lip on your carb. The lip on mine was modified by Robert to fit a different turbo hat perfectly. But that hat was too tall and wouldn't fit under the hood, so I had this one made. Or, I've got the old one, and no use for it, if you can find a way to make more hood clearance then it would fit.

Getting a BOV and intercooler is next on the list, but working shitty hours and making $6/hr doesn't really let you get everything you want right away. I knew how a BOV worked, but I didn't think that the "lag" between shifts would be increased by enough matter when only running ~10psi.

Just talked to Robert on the phone, and the last few parts I need are on their way He has been a little slow shipping parts, but for how much I paid for them, there's no way I'm going to complain at all

i figured you knew I saw your post on the bov. Im just starting out on my project. still have alot more parts to get before I start looking for a hat. but all I have is a stock nikki at this time. Im thinking of a blow through on a weber carb myself.

Sean, whichever carb you decide to use, I think you should talk to Robert @ www.rotaryshack.com He should have everything you really need to get your project started. He's also a Weber dealer, and sells them cheaper than I've seen anywhere else.

Thanks, I noticed you might want to find one of those yoohoo 3L220 belts.
