Check the coolant level... could be a leak, or burning it off slowly.

yeah coolant doesnt last forever... it evaporates, turns to sludge, gets burnt up, and so on.. you should check it every now and again..

Checked it yesterday. Top of the radiator and still green .. no discoloration at all... doesn't even appear to have any indications of rust. might be water pump.. didn't know if it was just something funky with the car. being new and all, reading all these post and going though arcives trying not to get flamed, wasn't sure if it was just something quarky or not.

I know now..
-that the motor run really hot.
-i need to buy a house so that i can work on it.
-checking oil is a must (thank god for gages and not idiot lights)
-i wish i knew more and had more money, it seems this car could cost me a lot.

Really? How hot? Overheating is the enemy of the rotary (clearances are tight and since the block is so light temps rise quichly causing destructive distortions). You can't run an overheating rotary. Fix the problem.

You must check the dipstick regularly, like when you fillup. Also, you should add 8-10oz. of 2-cycle pre-mix to every fillup.

It shouldn't cost you anything extraordinary unless you neglect or abuse the car. I have 4 rotaries from 20 to 30 yrs old and they cost me less than any other cars I've owned. The key to engine life is preventative medicine: cooling system and oil. Otherwise stuff is cheap: brakes, etc., are cheap and easily available.

It is not over heating at all.. just read some post about it running hotter than pistons. The light just came on when slowing down going down a hill, was just wanting to see if that was norm or i need to look into it further. old car with odd proplems that i'm not sure on.

have not gotten to this point yet but will start... just have to watch the GF, not sure that she will do it.

kewl beans but i am in need pf a paint job and get the rust off of the car. I just want to take car of it now that i have it. Currently it is red. I would like to have it black just because of cops. i have had a clean driving record for 2 years now with no tickets or anything. I'm hoping not to get more and a lead foot will get me more in a red car. but really just want to get the rust taken care of on the body and the door at one part is rusted though. so i would like to get that back in shape along with replacing the seals on the car doors. the motor runs great. i can bump the key and it cranks 90% of the time. if it doesn't then i just bump it again and it first right up... idle is about 500 to 1k rpm and doesn't bounce like i have head people talk about. it is a 12A.

Those sensors can be very sensitive. If the level is not topped off, it will come on from time to time. Keep the resevoir half full, and that should help. As long as you have fluid in there, then the radiator will keep itself topped off at all times.
