coolant tips
Coolant tips anyone?
Hey all just thought I would drop a quick line to get an idea of what coolant is the best to use.
Looking at
Redline "Water Wetter"
Royal Purple "Purple Ice"
Cyclelogics "Engine Ice"
Wondering if any of you use any of these products and what you think of them... I have an engine that has not been run in about 6 years and am looking for an ideal way to flush the coolant system. Also want to prolong the life of then engine as when it last ran it was strong.
Hopefully these product will help to contribute to a longer engine life.

All of those products work by changing the surface tension of the water by changing it's ability to 'stick' to metal instead of itself. They also work much better when used with straight water (or a very low mix of antifreeze to add anti-corrosive chemicals). The Redline product even has a chart on the back showing how the Water Wetter changes the collant temperature in relation to various mixes of antifreeze to water. Best results are with straight water, and I think it also says that Redline is also formulated to prevent corrosion inside the block from leaching.
They really do work, but first and foremost, you need to have an efficient cooling system; replace your thermostat, make sure you don't have any leaks, check your hoses and replace if necessary, and get your radiator rodded out. The cooling systems on these cars work very well in all climates, and you shouldn't need 'add-on' products if your basic system is working. HTH,
