coolant sensor temp

Ok when i did my motor swap i was told i could completely remove the wiring on the passenger side of the car. So i did but now the temp gauge doesnt work. And for the life of me i cant find a yellow white wire anywhere like the book says. And the gauge hooks to the sensor on the bottom driverside of the radiator correct. What am i missing and what do i need to plug in. Please help lol

Coolant temp sender is just below and to the left of filter pedestal as viewed from driver side fender.

Do you have a wire coming from the bottom driver side of the radiator? Is it the stock radiator?

There are a couple of wires in that left side bundle that you want.

1. The oil pressure (sender under the oil pedestal)
2. Temp gauge (sender under the oil pedestal)
3. Oil level (on oil pan)
4. Oil temp sensor for cold start ( (on oil pan) - may not want this. I could be wrong on what this does???
5. One goes to the back of the alternator.
6. A bunch go to the carb. Not sure which one you can keep or do without.

The temp switches on the radiators vary in position but they are only used for the cold start
assist. On an SA its at the top near cap and on the FBs its on the bottom same side as the cap.
The SA one opens around 32F and the FB ones open around 0F if I remember correctly.

Anyway these are not what you want. The one you want is located as others have said,
under the oil filter pedestal.

Ok so the coolant sensor on a 84-5 is the big gold colored canaster under the pedestal correct? My nikki is stripped and im running a buick alt so those wires dont bother me. Oil level i dont care. I just really want my gauges back lol. So many of the plugs on the harness hook into multiple plugs but i guess ill get it figured out. And just yo clarify the temp gauge wirining is on that big harness on the passenger side correct because i do not have a yellow white wire.

The bigger one is the oil pressure sensor. The wire connector fits on sideways. The water temp is the smaller sensor in the same area.

The coolant temp sensor is roughly the size of a weed eater spark plug, made of brass. One wire presses on to it in the manner of a plug wire. The wire is on the driver side.

It's a $5.00 part.
