COOLANT GAUGE REPAIR (long winded reference)

I posted about two years ago that my temperature gauge stopped working. The needle was always 1/8" above the coldest reading. After checking the sending unit I found out that the gauge was actually frozen in place. This was a very easy fix. Removing the gauge cluster was hard because I couldnt get the steering wheel off, so I had to take the unit out in pieces. Anyhow, the gauges are very strait forward and simple. The needle of the gauge is hinged on a metal pin. The movement of the needle is controlled by a Bi-Metalic arm that is heated by a wire winding, when the arm heats up, it bends toward the "Hot" side of the gauge. Electricity is supplied to the "heating windings" by the temperature sender on the engine block. On my needle the joint between the needle and bi-metalic arm had a dent in it. Straitening the dent took about ten minutes, and it works perfectly now. The fuel and oil pressure gauge are identical to the temperature gauge. I couldn't take a picture but I did attach a drawing for you guys.

My gauge doesnt work right now. Is it supposed to spring back to the lowest point? Cause right now i can move mine up or down, with my finger, and it will just stay wherever i moved it to.

What do you think?
