Connecting the Choke Cable on Sidedraft Weber
Sorry to use up valuable internet space for such a retarded question. I have a 45mm Weber sidedraft setup on my 12a but the choke cable isn't hooked up because the cable won't reach. I need some ideas on how I can attach the choke cable up to the weber.
Btw, if you're wondering how I start my car, I spray 'quick start' into the carb, crank, run outside quick and engage the choke. If I have a friend with me, then they're my temporary choke cable while until I can support a proper idle.

No matter how much I pump the gas, I can never get the car started. Its either someone has to hold the choke for me or I soak the carb with quick start and hold the throttle till the car warms up.
Anyone got pictures on how the stock choke cable is hooked up to a sidedraft setup? I just need some ideas on how its connected.

aight common, I know you people with sidedraft setups had to do something with the choke cable via bike wire or an aftermarket generic cable! I'm a newb I know, but any input would be nice how to extend the cable.

When I removed the stock Nikki and installed my weber 45, I was left with two spare cables. I have an idea to use some small steel stock and fabricate a 45 degree angle piece mounted to the alternator bracket (the adjustment arm) making it long enough to be somewhat in line with the choke. Then you can splice the stock cable and say the old cold start assist cable together using a fence wire splice collar, running it through a hole and secured on the steel piece attached to the alternator bracket.
I know it's hard to imagine, but i'm sure it will work. It will be a month or so before I get it done, then I can post a pic. (It's a total farmer fix, but hey it should work)

My Weber sidedraft (on the REPU) doesnt even have a choke. Even when I lived in Colorado I could pump 3-4 times turn key and it would fire right up. Before I finally remembered to install the throttle return spring I carried a plastic bag to wrap around the intake and choke it, that worked pretty well.
If you must have the choke you should be able to get a universal cable some place, even rig up a bicycle brake cable.
