I will be posting my "before" pictures this weekend. THe total cost I have talied so far bareley exeeds $2500, I have a list of parts that will also be posted. I feel I will exeed the initial price breakdown but my goal is to keep it around that area. Thanks for the intrest and support!

Really, my SE only needs exterior paint (no rust) and an interior overhaul. Powertrain will be great (transmission is currently being re-built), the engine only has 72K and runs perfect!

I am replacing all the bits and peices with REMAN items, NOT new from the dealer, such as: Master cyl, clutch master, calipers, fuel pump, ect.. The OEM radiator will be flushed and sealed as will the gas tank. New hoses and braided brake and clutch lines. All the vacume stuff that is not needed will be removed. THe exhaust will be new from downpipe to tail pipe. Really is should be pretty fun to do and I will end up with a "brand new" Rx-7 built just the way I want it. BTW: I am very fortunate that Skrewloose had such a beautifuly kept chassis to start with. None of these pesky jack crunches on the bottom!!

I'll be really surprised if you get this done for the $2500 you've estimated. You'll be surprised how fast things add up...at least they did for me. I hope you're right though! Keep us up to date.

Make sure you don't confuse grade 8 and class 8.8
Grade 8 are the hardest common bolts in use. They come in imperial (standard/american) sizes...
The metric name for the same grade is class 10.9.
Metric class 8.8 is the same as imperial grade 5. They're good for non-structural parts...

WTF? This is my 12th rx-7. And my 2nd complete tear down and rebuild. 200hours is not that funny, especially when I can tear a car down to the chassis in under 4 hours. Well I guess we will see what it ends up taking. I will keep a detailed log and start with the pictures this sunday.

Nice... I'm a little less experienced...
I'm alloting about 50 hours for my tear down, and about 200 for the re-build...
That doesn't include the body work o painting (sending it out), or any of the custom fabication I'll be doing.
Plus I'll be doing an engine re-build first, and all the planning time...
500 hours of my time total maybe? Probably more, as I'm sue to run into unforseen problems...
