clutch wont disengage
i have an 85 gs that sat for 14 years. i got it to start up and run good, but the clutch wont disengage to let it go into gear. is there anything i can try to do to get it to un stick with out tearing it out? i have other trannies and clutches i can put in it, but for the price i paid for the car and how it looks, the least amount of work as possible would be great.

You need to determine why it is not disengaging. It could be two things, the hydraulics could be the problem or the disc could be stuck to the pressure plate. After 14 years the clutch master and slave cylinders could be completely inoperative and probably need to be rebuilt or replaced as a matter of course. If they are functioning then its the clutch . If that is it you will have to get creative and bump it loose somehow. I have heard of people doing it with the starter or by pulling it behind another car, snatching it to break the stuck disc loose, otherwise you will have to pull the transmission.

the clutch was still holding pressure after the 14 years. i bled it and flushed it with clean fluid, I know the master is fine, the slave ill have to check again to make sure its pushing the fork but im pretty sure it is. I have a feeling the clutch is just stuck. i have to change the starter and when i did the bellhousing was full of white stuff, (oxidation i think). does it sound like im screwed or is there still a chance it could break free? Ive been really lucky with this car so far...

^ thats what i figured and was afraid of. i have to go do title work tonight, plus im sure it will rain... but what really sucks is that most of the "unstick your clutch" procedures involve using the brakes and i have yet to go over those... but that shouldnt take me too long. ill keep y'all posted

Trick I used to use in my race car was to put the rear of the car up on jack stands, start the car with it in gear and rev to 2 - 3 thousand RPM, then slam the brakes. Not sure if it would work in these as my race car was a motorcylce engine with a wet clutch.
