Choosing Plug Wires....

Ok guys, I was just at the parts store today getting all new stuff for when I put in my engine, and I got to the plug wires. The guy at the counter said Autolite 7.5mm wires for like $20. I didnt think that was right because I remember hearing a lot about 8mm wires, and different Ohm resistances. I know that the Ohm/Feet thing Is how much resistance per foot you have (right?), but whats the 6mm, or 7.5mm, or 8mm? Is it the physical wire diameter? The "core" wire? Basically, I wanted yellow spark plug wires, and they have some Accel Thudersport 300's or something like that, and they were like 8mm and had a lower resistance than the Autolite garbage, but I didnt know what it all really meant, so what does it all mean, and should I get the Accel wires?

The diameter has nothing to do with the resistance or current carrying capacity. The core carries the current and the silicone is an isolator/insulator to prevent current leakage and keep heat out of the core. Technically resistance should be as low as possible. You can't use race cables because the signal will kill your radio reception. Go with Moroso, Magnecor, MSD, Jacobs, etc. Accel is ok. Cheap autolites might last 6 months. The heat eats em up. The yellow wires give you 7 extra horse power, red give you 5 and pink wires take away 3 horses and make you look like a sissy.

Moroso Blue Max Spiral Core check my link in above board (plug wire question) to go to there site. Resistance is not everything how much voltage they deliver is a better factor to judge them.

i think it depends on what other sorts of ignition stuff you'll be running
