Choke in NY

Hello,
I am new to this forum and as of a week ago new to owning a RX-7, I have picked up a 82 GSL that is bone stock and from CA. I live in upstate NY and am having a choke issue on these cold mornings. I have read all of the posts that I could find and it sounds like when I pull out the choke in the morning I should get some R’s out of it, nothing happens.
I can hear the relay clicking when I move the choke lever to the two different positions. If I let off the gas in the inward most position the R’s drop to ~500, then I rev it up before it stalls. If I move it to the full out position it just wants to stall, so something must be moving on the carb.
I have the Hanes book and have look through it, these things have a ton of solenoids and vac lines on them, where should I start? Is their a common item that fails? Where can I buy these solenoids?
Thanks,

Welcome to the forum. The solenoids have nothing to do with the choke. It sounds like something is amiss in the choke mechanism itself. Where upstate are you located? There might be some local help near you.

If you look at the shop manual you'll see how its put together. See what you come up with.

I used to, havent in a while though. Cool, though your a bit far north of our NE carb guru who lives near Kingston.
