lol....some of you guys crack me up! Its his freakin car, let him do what he wants with it! I wish I had the kind of money this kid has to throw around, doesnt mean I'm going to bash his efforts! Over time I seen some dumb **** posted on here with color schemes, wheel choices, home made body kits and other mods and speaker boxes that......well lets just say we will never see.
Some guys here spent just as much $$$$ on their car only to have a seal blow out or worse yet some mod there car spend mucho $$$$ and give up before even driving it! Anyhow I applaud the kid for his efforts!

Hey,
yea sorry bout the earlier post but i was pissed, i knew what went into that car. I worked on it myself.
The engine total (with the recipts that we could find) was 3780 i think but it was 3700+ for sure...
Maybe you are right about the engine being inflated, but i saw the receipts.
Tonight i'll post for him (1985GLS) some killer pics, I have a Nikon D70s that will pull every detail outa the car.
and to everyone thinking he SPENT 9k on the body work/kit/paint. you are wrong
and to those of you who think stoner is a bad company??? pick up this months issue of Car and Driver, flip to the page with the credintals on it and look to your left, a 1/3 page ad for stoner.
Everyone that has the constructive crit. thank you, bashers and flamers work on the crit, be nice and have fun.

and stoner car care is in many high-end magazines so id take it you dont read modified mag super street or sport compact car.

BTW i am 17 and paid for all of this myself and did all the work myself. I rebuilt the whole motor in my garage. I am not just one of those rich kids that their parents pay for everything and just shipped the car out to get finished.

My first thought was the car looks sharp. I think he did a great job on it. I personally would (and will on my car) pick a single color, but it's a very nicely done paint job at any rate.
The interior, for what it is, is really nicely done as well. Need to get the carpet and that impact style is not my cup of tea, but it's nicely done at any rate. I personally like the idea of hiding the sub in one of the storage bins, but if you want a nice big sub in the back that won't work.
For those who don't think a 17 year old could afford to do this kind of work, if he's working at a body shop and did most of the paint and body work himself, I could see him easilly making enough money to do that sort of work. 15-20 bucks an hour and few if any expenses (especially if he's still living at home)? It's not that hard to drop a couple grand a month into a project and still have money leftover. And if he has access to a shop that he can use on the side and possibly discounted supplies, it's not too hard to see this kind of work being done.
Anyway, I'd have picked a different color scheme but I think it works well and looks nice for what it is. Way to go dude, killer car.
PS: Where the crap did you get a kaminari body kit? I've been trying to find one for months.

Thanks for the props as for the body kit, as theo said it took like 4 days just to get it on the car and it fit like **** so i once again took it off hacked it up made it fit and fixed it again. it looks good now but it took alot of custom work. And BigJeff yeah i live at home and got a discounted(the shop rate) rate on all supplies and did all the work at the bodyshop using their tools.

A single color scheme would have been better and wouldn't date itself with the fads of the day...much like the twin viper stripes are outdated and when seen on a car, you KNOW it was done in the mid to late 90's.
As far as the sponsorship thing, yeah, I don't think you should have to pay to get IN, but some people who have posted really have no clue as to sponsorship and what it means. There's varying levels of sponsorship in the car show arena and also racing. Not everything is just handed to ya free of charge, but if that's what you believe then your swimming in dreamland. Everyone remember the Jim Downing 4 rotor Kudzu chassis he ran in the late 90's and early 2000's? He had a Dunlop tire sponsorship. Did Dunlop give him free tires for the IMSA race season? NO, he still paid 20K in tires instead of 60K. Even in redneck Nascar, the tires aren't free even though you have their sponsorship. My point is quit busting his ***** when you don't know enough about sponsorships to call him on it.

Not totally my style, but the work looks to be good. It is good that you are doing much of the work yourself. I think it could use some aftermarket wheels to go with that paint, though. One question I have, though. After buying all new parts for the engine, why are you now selling it?
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=571664
It doesn't make sense to me. I know that web site said you were looking for a turbo engine, so that may be the reason. Anyway, I don't know why you would get all new parts if you are only keeping the engine for a short time. No matter how much you have put into that engine, you are going to lose a lot of money if you choose to sell it. I would keep it. You could turbo it and run low boost or open back up and add low compression rotors.
Anyway, don't get discouraged. As long is you like it, that is all that matters. Besides you are doing pretty much all of the work on it, so you are learning a lot in the process.

Im selling it because i am getting a really great deal on a turboed motor fully rebuilt with a garrent t04 and it would be cheaper to sell mine and pick this one than to take mine apart and get low comp rotors and to buy the turbo stuff i still have to buy( i have the main parts if you are interested)

I figured it was something like that. I guess if it were me, I would have built the turbo motor to begin with if that is what I wanted. The cost would be the same as NA basically. You could have ran the turbo motor as NA if you couldn't afford the tubo and such at first. The problem is you will take a big loss on this engine. Even though the parts are new, this is technically a used engine. If it was built by a well known builder it would be worth a bit more, but even then it will be worth much less then you have into it. Also, this turbo motor may not be in as good of shape as your engine. Typically housings, rotors, etc. are not replaced. If they are, many times it is with good used parts as new parts are expensive. With the engine you have, at least you know for sure what it has new and what it doesn't. You don't have to use low compression rotors to turbo. You can just run less boost. There are plenty of guys who turbo 12A NA engines (probably same compression ratio as you have). Anyway, I would just think over the options before selling this engine

It's an exposure site for small time builders to get their cars out there in hopes for large sponsors to see the cars and offer them sponsorships for shows and promotions etc...
It seems as though the only sponsors are basic sponsors like sticker sponsors who mail you a sticker or give you an alarm. Nothing too terribly spectacular. In my opinion there are a lot of other builds on here who would take on far better sponsorships and get a lot of well deserved sponsoships.
Nice build and what not but the mechanics of it have all been done and yours is done in a fairly messy manner. As well the paint, body, and interior modifications are those capable of a beginner ricer. I'm not very impressed. Not that my opinion matters. None the less it's not a ground breaking or stunning car at all.
If you like it then good. Keep it that way. I'm happy for you in that fact.

your saying that the body work, fibreglass kit, and paint cost 9k...I don't know where you would go for work like that but I would have to say it would never cost that much for all that work not even to strip the car to metal fix the dents, mount the kit, and paint it...I just had my 3/4 tonne dodge stripped down and painted and it cost me 3k and it has 3x the surface area of your car...and I did alittle searching on atkins, even with a rebuild kit, new housings, front plate, new clutch and fly wheel you would only spend about 2k before shipping...

...I could also buy a 13btt rew preformance rebuild with bridgeport, and a stage 3 oil mod, for $3810...that is a completely rebuild 13b with basically new everything + a few extras for your 13b N/A unupgraded motor...I think you whereever you got your motor you spent too much but where ever it was from it wasn't from atkins
