Center Consol
i did a search and cameup empty handed. first off, i need to know how to take out the center consol, the part that surrounds the radio and A/C *****. it feels loose, like something is just holding it in, but i feel like it might snap with some force. also the wrap around around the shifter, how do i get that loose? i dont have to completely remove the whole dash do i? thanks in advance.

take out the ***** for ac and there are 2 bolts there remove those then before you pull on that just pull the thing surrounding the shifter then just pull out the center console. there will be lights hooked on there so remove the lights with just a twist of your hand and voila there you go

yeah i know what your talking about. those two screws are there as extra reinforcement. in the attachment, everything blue is already taken out, even the arm rest part, but the part in orange, is the part i need to lift up about 7 inches so i can pput in the AT shifter assembly. the picture is just one i found on the net, thats not my car. i thinki need to take the dash off, cuz the part in orange connects to the whole upper dash, and i dont think i can lift that one part with lifting the rest of the dash, i might if its flexible enough. so right now i'm asking two questions, how do i start to take the dash apart? and in the engine bay, there is a group of wires on the passenger side firewall, with one long orange connector and one small square yellowish, clearish, connector, what do these wires do? pretty much asking if i need them or not. hey thanks everyone that can help

I found a thread at some point that had a real nice step by step for taking that center thing out. I am sorry, but as I recall you do need to take quite a bit of dash appart to get that piece out. I will look for the thread and get back to you.

Okay found it and it wasn't a thread it was a how-to guide on Manntis' website. go to www.rotorhead.ca and follow the link at the top labeled "how-to." there you will find a a great tutorial with pictures on removing the dash. Good luck with the project!

this is mustanggt85, i changed my name to suit the board better. well as it turns out, we didnt need to take off the dash. just by using force and wiggling technique, we got that bitch in from the top. woo hoo. its like the 4inch toilet hole trying to flush a 7 inch turd.
