CD player into my SA, who new it would take fabricating

He well I got tired of pushing changes and twisting the dial every 5 miles to try and keep a radio station even coherent. So I went with a CD player. Looking at the deck I swore it was smaller then newer style aftermarket stuff. Being skeptical I went to the local stereo shop and consulted them. They assured me it would be the same size. I said well alright. I went to ebay for the radio save me some cash you know. Got a Clarion Db355 MP3 CD player. I chose a head unit based on matching the OEM style best like silver trim. I found 3 units all by clarion from there it was price. I got my least looks fav but they were all very close. The next one up was 100$ and the next one I liked most was 125$ and mine was 65$, so I thought and though and mine was only one offering MP33 so I went with mine at 65$ and 25 shipping.

Well I took out the center cover and placed radio up to it and no fity. Hmm figures my luck always requires modifications *sigh*. So the radio was 1 and 31/32nd's difference in width and high was the same. So I marked half of my total figure on each end traced it and cut it out then hand sanded it smooth. Head unit fits :-).

Next mod the inside mounts to fit. Actually the frame inside there would not allow the unit to fit. Well after some cutting and grinding I got the unit to fit inside. I leveled it then build brackets and bolted them to the CD player then to the side of the consol area. Put on trim and it does not line up, Doh! Well have to start somewhere I mean I had no ware to measure to come off of until now. It needs to go up 1in or so and the AC control and mounts are in the way, crap. Well a bunch more precise grinding and it fit. Mod the mounts some more and place her in. Dry fit it and see and everything is perfect!

Take the unit back out proper for some 12VDC wires check for Key on and Key off then wire the unit up.

All done let’s show some pics. Wow sorry my camera broke :-( after the second pic and my other camera was broke it started working so I used it. Suddenly after I finished these pics it broke again :-(. This camera made everything blurry oh well.

After moding inside fit

looks good, some one (previous owner) did not take the time and do the cut properly and it looks horrible, so now i gotta find a new cd player cd player with a bigger face plate so i can make it look better. Its a tape deck that they put in anyways so its gotta be changed

That must be an '80. The ***** for the heater controls are completely different than mine on my '79.
