Allright, there might be some thread on this but whatever,
im new here so don't hate.
While browsing the internet (which has proved itself sometimes to be a very unreliable source provider of info), I found something very interesting.
I found something about reastoring compression using atf (automatic transmission fluid) by pouring it down the primary bores in the carb whilst the air filter is off. The idea is to use the atf as a solvent to clean the apex seal assembly and reastor compression. Now this is were i'm thinking that this may not be a grand old idea. Sure, it makes sense to have the apex seals work as efficiently as possible, but does it make sense to pour some atf directly into your carb?

He then recomends to start it and thrash it to clear all the fluid out (basically some rediculus amount of redlines), which makes sense, but sounds a touch risky.

Please help, i don't want to destroy my baby trying some "old mechanics trick", but i dont want to pay a hefty amount to reastore compression.

Nice looking car. Yep there's something to it. I prefer Sea Foam myself, MMO also works.

Only use seafoan or marvel mystery oil to do this. ATF WILL KILL your oil control seals.

I am not going to flame you but encourage you to make the same effort that you used to find the information from those other sites because we have all of that information already here. :-)

You can find the information that you are looking here by using the search function with the separate terms such as just typing in MMO in the search function or ATF or Seafoam all as separate terms. Just look for the threads with the most responses.

Trust us dude, Seafoam will do you right. Just put one can into about 1/8 tank of gas and drive around for a bit. That's all there is to it. You will probably feel a difference in just a few minutes if you are "getting on it" at all.

The product you are looking for can be found at just about any autoparts store in the states, or Kmart/walmart/target/Meijer I believe. It is a fuel system cleaner. They also have transmission products, so just look for the white can that states fuel system cleaner on it. You'll love it...

Seafoam is great. I have used it on a few cars with good results. Not sure why anyone would use ATF which is not for cleaning engines when so many good products are out there such as seafoam, B-12, MMO.....
