Carburetor during an engine replacement

Ok my story:
So back in July 2009 I put my stock 1985 RX7 sideways into a guardrail going 70+ mph. Even though the guardrail kept me from going off a 300ft cliff into the Puget Sound it pretty much destroyed my car.
I found a 1983 RX7 with a blown motor and ruined interior for under $500 and bought it. Since then I've been juggling school, work, and rebuilding my Mazda. I swapped my 1985 motor over and have gotten to the point where I have to rewire my dash, replace the wiring harness, attach the radiator/replace coolant hoses. But during the engine swap, I noticed that my carburetor has been spraying crud all over my block. I had been aware of the leak, but had no idea as to the extent of it. I took it off the car and went to rebuild it.
During the time I took the carb off the car and now, the car was towed to a new location and in doing so, I lost a large number of the parts in the carburetor because I was being retarded and careless.
So now I am faced with a dilema. I'm stock-ported and want to keep it that way for a while (goal 1: get car running again, I miss her). As far as the carb goes, I've pretty much lost hope. So I have saved up a few hundred dollars and want to buy an aftermarket carb but don't know which one and want recommendations. Originally I was going to get a large Weber 48IDA off racingbeat, but those aren't recommended for stock-ported motors. So I'll go a different route. I'm going to do research on Sterling, Holley, Dellorto. But consumer advice is the best so I'm asking for yours.

I like the lil Nikkis so this will be biased... But I'd get a 2nd hand Nikki for cheap and then save up a bit extra for the sterling.

If you come to the next Taco7 meet, I could get you into another stock carb.

What would the advantages of having a stock carb over a Sterling be? Because in 2 weeks I'll have enough for the sterling.
When is the next Taco7 meet?

I love Nikki carbs! They are simple and easy to work on. I will be buying a Sterling once I get my tax-refund as well.

If you need a carb right now, a stocker is your best choice.

If you can wait for a while, and since you've got the funds in place, a Sterling is a better bet. He's usually backlogged so you'll need to get in contact with him to be put on a waiting list.

Let me know if you need a carb right now. I can give you a killer deal that won't cut into your Sterling budget.

No the 83 didn't have a carb. The guy was parting it out. I bought the rolling shell.

I've got a whole bunch of wiring to do without much time to do it in with my car so I've got a few months before I'll be starting her up. So I'll contact Sterling.
