Nah, its single layer CF, not kryptonite dude! It'll fold up ALOT more that the stock hood with its stamped reinforcing piece.

Well said!

and suddenly, our young opinionated friend is gone from the thread...

Oh how I miss learning from him! In 18 short years, he has surpassed my intellect for certain! In the extra 12 years of living, surely I should be shot for not being as bright as he! Woe be it to us, we are not worth of ****'s knowledge!

well onepointone, it does depend on how the hood is constructed. 1st7heavens hood is a single layer, minimally reinforced design. Hell it'll probably flutter at highway speeds! 1st7heaven, chime in here bud since your the one with it in your hot little hands.

Now if it was constructed just like the stock hood, then it'll prolly chop the whole top off in head on crash! (Actually, prolly not, itll prolly just go up and over the windshield).

Carbon fber in any panel will shatter upon impact in an accident. You see contact with a tire doing it in CART and F1 all the time to the front wing plates...

Okay as far as little wieght reductions add up to somthing big at the end your right... but obviously the modivation behind this is for LOOKS rather then real preformance... car with 105hp to the wheels with someone spending $1000's of dollars "trying to make it lighter"... As far as hondas go... your friend spent ALOT of money on that car... You want facts huh??? FACT no honda has EVER ran a 10 sec pass in the street tire class in the Nhra Sport Compact OR in the IDRC... http://www.nhraimport.com http://www.importdrag.com
Look for your self... FACT Hondas cant do **** in ANY CLASS but the hot rod class and the mod class... The hot rod class is only open to fwd cars... the mod class gives a 750lbs wieght advantage to the 4cyl fwd cars in that class VS the V6 or rotary rwd cars with the same power adders in that class... FACT honda motors are expensive... as expensive, a J Spec B18C5 is as expensive IF NOT MORE expensive then a 2jz 13b rb25 or 20b... there should be NO arguments here that theese motors have more power potential... FACT ALL models of honda cars made after 1975 except for the s2k and the nsx are FWD ECONOMY CARS... All front wheel drive cars are at a MAJOR disadvantage when it comes to traction... FACT only 1 team has been able to run a 7 sec pass in a honda... adam somthing or other was driveing it... barely made it into the high 7's and had THE LARGEST BUDGET OUT OF ANYONE RACING IN THE NHRA SPORT COMPACT OR THE IDRC... Do you need more facts or will this cover it?

Why is it that all kids today seem to think about is drag racing? Here's another fact for you, child.. RX-7's AREN'T MEANT TO BE DRAG RACED!! Is that clear enough for you? And obviously you don't know what corner weighting is, let alone have done it. If you had, you'd realize that 10 to 20 pounds CAN make a difference... oh, and just to really drive the nail home.. take a look at SCCA road racing ITA class.. Honda's there almost always RAPE a first-gen Rex.. ask anyone who is there and sees lap times.. so much for slow Hondas...

car with 105hp to the wheels
I thought it was 105 HP at the flywheel...
As far as hondas go...
I thought this thread was about CF hoods? Who cares about Hondas?
FACT ALL models of honda cars made after 1975 except for the s2k and the nsx are FWD ECONOMY CARS...
Which is a major reason I have problems with people trying to make them fast and or look like race cars and street racing cars and ****. At least Im starting with a sports car, but then again I dont think anyone here has called me rice (to my face) and meant it. Even if they did, it wouldnt bother me too much as its my car .
Do you need more facts or will this cover it?
No I think this will just about cover where to get a CF hood, thanks for the helpful replies

ok I_PISS_ON_HONDAS I have had no problem with you so far, and actually would have like to meet up and check out your car, but you are in over your head.
I auto-x my car and it is virtually stock. But I plan on buying a CF hood as soon as one is avaliable. The reason is that mods in the class I race in are very tight, and 20lbs will help some at being able to tune my suspension. I also plan on painting the top side to match the rest of the car.

About your facts about Hondas.
Fact; drag racing means jack **** in the full scheam of motorsports. Personally (I dont want to **** anyone off) but if all you can do is go in a straight line and think your hot ****, you can kiss my ***.

Fact; my girlfriends 90 Accord has 212,XXX miles on it and will still keep up with my rex pretty well. and still gets a solid 32MPG on the freeway.

Fact; Iam a die hard rotary fan and everyone here knows it. But a 20b or 13B will not last as long under the hard life of any form of racing as a B18c5 period.

It pisses me off as much as anyone else around here when I see a rex "riced out". But it just so happens that noone alse around here even mentioned putting stupid **** on there car until you big mouth came jabering along.

And about the $2000 in wheels on a $500 car WTF?!?!?!?! I have seen pictures of your car and how the hell can you justifie dumping all that money into it when it still looks like a total piece of ****?

I have a very nice 85 and I think the best single thing thing I can or could have bought for my car was my Wheels and tires.

SO grow up and go flame somewere else unless you can chill out and respect the other people around here.

Just let it go people. We know who's right. And the simple FACT is, it's not his place to say anything about anyone else's car.

1.) so what about nhra and other rules and regulations.. how does that make honda's piece of ****?
2.) actually, my friend paid $800 for the car, $600 for the engine, ecu, tranny, and everything else needs from a guy that needs to get rid of it. and did the swap with me and a couple other people.. just the amount, if not a WHOLE lot less than a reg. motor swap
3.) try beating the **** out of your rotary like that every week, actually, go ahead, maybe you wont have a reason to be here anymore
4.) i dont know alot about nissan and toyota motors, so i wont try, but with a 20b, yea, a 20b costs ~3500 from what ive seen, plus a 10k install... b18c5 is $5500 from most jdm suppliers, and im sure your not far off from there with getting it in the car and running. so in the long run, its cheaper
5.) like MANY others have said, no one said anything about rice, till you opened your mouth

Oh yeah, and something you learn in mountain biking.

Why buy a part thats just as strong, and 2 oz lighter? Because in the end, all those ounces add up. I have a 25 pound FULL SUSPENSION mountain bike.

A little bit of carbon fiber here, a little bit of special aluminum there, goes from a 32 pound cross country bike, to a 25 pound bike. Same with cars. It all adds up, nothing in and of itself is significant.
I have a 46lb full-suspension DH bike... does this mean my car should have lead wheels and a cast iron intake, and......
