carb tuning to get it started

My 1985 Mazda RX-7 GS 12a with the Nikki won't start. So far I have new ignition wires, autolite plugs (untill it's running then NGK's), and used a GP Sorsen carburetor rebuild kit to rebuild my carburetor. After learning all I did about carbs after rebuilding mine I realized that I made some mistakes like adjusting my floats. Yesterday I started the car using the accelerator pump, but only if I pump the pedal a lot will it start. Maybe the jets aren't seated or something, I need some suggestions on what to try next, In the factory service manual it says to adjust the air/fuel screw out three turns from full tight, I used this as a starting point and as inserting more fuel with the accel. pump made it start, I figured I needed it more rich so I kept backing out a half turn at a time. I don't think any fuel at all is coming out accept at the accel. pump, because I watched it shoot out fuel. The car doesn't even sound like it wants to start. But it will start now problem if fuel is poured down the carb throats or if I pump the pedal. What should I try next?

When you rebuilt the carb, did you blow out all the passages to make sure they werent clogged? That includes all the passages in the throttle body, main body and air horn. The idle fuel passes into..................

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I bet I know what your problem is. Are you 100% sure you put the base to main body gasket on right? Theres one extra hole only on one side of the gasket for the idle fuel jet. If you put it on backwards, it blocks the jet and obviously any idle fuel from getting to the engine.

I blew out all jets I could find, would this gasket be easy to put in backwards? What is base to main body? Between throttle body and main body? In the haynes manual it says improperly seated jets or clogged jets, but I cleaned everything, so what is an improperly seated jet?
Thanks

Well I just tore that gasket between the main and throttle bodies apart, of course by accident. But now where do I buy a gasket kit, what brand and what price. I really wish I could just buy that one gasket since all the rest are brand new anyways.
Thnx

I have some used ones around that are in good shape if you want one.
