I'm afraid both your words are falling on deaf ears. Even when given sound advice and his question answered, Joe chooses to ignore it and start another thread thread. It's a shame when people can't think/discover for themselves. Perhaps it's time for mom and dad to take his internet away. Or perhaps the mods could restrict him from starting new threads for a while.

Joe,

As Doc mentioned and as I mentioned to you previously as well, please keep all your carb related questions in this spot. It is better for everyone if you do this. If you ask a question and it goes a day or two without a response, feel free to bump this thread. It does look like you have already got a lot of good info here. You should go back a read all of the responses again and make you you understand the suggestions and then ask questions if you need something clarified.

Also, as Doc says, there is a ton of good info out there using a search. Also be sure to check the 1st gen archive as there are several good threads in there about rebuilding and tuning the Nikki.

sorry guys i searched but couldnt find anything that pertained to using parts from both a 79 carb and an 83. ok so now i got it all put together as a full 83 carb but now it wont idle below 1000 rpm. i heard that a small vacuum leak could create this so i replaced all the vacuum lines that are still in use and made sure anything not in use was capped. also when i pump the brakes the car sputters and dies.

To my understanding if the car sputters, dies or changes at all when u press the brakes then there's a vacuum leak in the brake booster diaphram... someone correct me if I'm mistaken? Could be ur problem there. Cuz I had an old straight 6 300ci ford that acted this way. New brake booster=good to go

Just plug the vacuum line with a bolt or something so it don't leak. And then try it. If it runs fine or better than before than its one of your problems
