Why did you adjust the floats? They hardly ever need to be adjusted.
As far as the white milky stuff goes, you may wanna take the carb back off and make sure to clean the hell out of it with carb cleaner. Personally, I would take it to a shop and have it dipped in a carb tank.

High idle is typically a sign of a vacuum leak somewhere. Good luck with that... Make sure your float bowls aren't overflowing into the throats of the carb (due to bad float adjustment or sticking needle valve)...

welll im still not sure sooo i pulled it again and the back bowl is set perfect but its still only getting 1/4 full sooo i dont know there and i could not find a vacuum leak i study and study last night on my car to find something sooo would a vac. line put in the wrong place do this?

When I got my carb rebuilt, the bolts were not tight enough and vacume leaking was everywahre. I went in and tightened everything up and the idle is a bit high, but that is probly because I don't know how to tune a carb. It also sounds like the exhaust is clogged. Check the cat. they are usualy a problem.
Well that is my 2 cents, good luck.

Glowing exhaust is a (almost) sure sign the you either don't have leading ignition or your timing is off. Fairly unlikely that your cat is plugged, even though that's usually the first thing that people suggest when they see a red header.

Ok, first off how was it running before the rebuild? The float levels will only be in the middle if the car is on level ground. If its on an incline then it will obviously be different. You need to get the idle lower before you worry about the glowing exhaust. The milky white smoke is evaporating fuel. Either shes flooding or something else is amiss. Did you mess with the idle adj or idle mix adj scrwes?

my girls first gen that she just bought is also having the same issues sadly guys im not to well know about the first gen i know more about the second gens so this is like a whole new car to learn ...
i noticed that her car idles really high also it stays at 2000 rpm i messed with the butterfly thing inside the carb while it was running and it made the car idle a little lower like 1500 rpm .i do know the car has a small vac leak but nothing serious.but should be taken care of ..her car is a automatic and i noticed when you change the gears in the car it hops then it will do something like a stall out. when she bought the car the only way to get the car started was to spary that engine start/ethenol into the carb and it fired right up. my point in this story.. there is none lol just wanted to share and btw
do you guys have pics? of the idel screw? and the other things to adjust the carb ect ect...GL

so you have the idle screw backed all the way out? and it only idles at 1000..... either your timing is too advanced, or the carb is pulling fuel from either the secondaries or maybe there is a small enough vaccum leak on the bottom of the intake manifold. do you have block off plates? do you have all emissions stuff? and either way... if it's idling nice at 1000 that is usually where you pull the most vaccum and i would probably leave it there. the slight miss may be your plugs are slightly fouled from all the trials of this carb you've been going thru.
