A person told me that you could not solder it up close because you will burn the foam inside, even if you cool it down.He told me i must leave the brass float as it is,and as long if i dont boost more than 8-9psi it will not crush. Is this true????
or is he bulls***ting me?.Any info please.
Thanks for info REVHED,i wanted to go that way but then i heard this, what do you think?

Robert @ rotary shack found a better expanding float that will work better for a brass float. Maybe he can hook you up.
I just received my custom turbo manifold which will allow me to run any intake (downddaft or sidedraft). For now, I'm getting a IDA hat from him and at the same time, he will work in the brass float. Hopefully, by the end of the year, I can make suggestions on which carb (IDA, mikuni, holley, weber dcoe/dco) will work best for carb turbo set-up.

As far as I know, all IDA's came wtih brass float. As far as boost, I cant really tell you at this time since I dont have a low compression rotors. Im installing a S5 turbo on a 4port 13-B big streetport with GSL-SE internals, many mods but not dowelled.

im runnign 10lbs of boost on my IDA, polyurethane float... Found it on an auction on yahoo japan. Robert says his floats are good to 15lbs, but he is working on a new foam to get higher.
