Three letters, starts with A, that's back any way you go about it.
Yeah, check every plug, ground, connection again.
Sounds like you oughta change oil regardless.
Choke cleaner, starter fluid. I use choke cleaner to start my 30 year old riding mower. Works every time. I've used it on my 7 too. Works for me.
And since you're in a position of needing a little levity, there's this.

Well you need to go get a volt meter, 30 year old car and no volt meter I don't know how you do it lol. Timing light is next. I'm not saying to do this, but I pull started mine when it would not start. Of course that motor sat up for 10 years. He'll a vacuum leak will cause a hard start, ask me how I know.
yeeeep ive needed a good voltmeter for quite some time now.
points taken thanks! I want to try and push start it!! but scared I wont be able to get it back up the hill I live on.. :/

My car did the whole start start start slow thing starting a week ago. I had two things wrong. Cat clogged up and my newer cheap battery dropped a cell. Tried buddies battery and its a constant start now. But it was 650 cca where my battery was 450 cca. Hope this helps

Yesterday I changed the oil and oil filter ( im quite sure I got some water in the old oil ) and charged the battery and put 2 gallons of gas in and still nothing. so im thinking it must be electrical as was suggested and as I originally thought. I don't have a volt meter though >.<
any tips on checking the distributor and maybe a easy process of elimination?
my money is on distributor fouling up at this point.
I checked one plug and it had spark, but it sure did FEEL weak really didn't jolt me too much like others have, still need to check the others, how would I know if the timing is correct? or how would I know the distributor is working correctly?
also been trying starting fluid here and there and it now has no change in cranking what so ever.

problem solved...
well, problem solved.
I had the cables from distributor to the plugs backwards. I forgot to ask which rotor was which... so the front rotor is number 1 or 2? lol
thank you guys for your help and input!!!
also, now I hear a strange whistling that wasn't there before.. it sounds like I have a turbo on it! its pretty loud and goes with engine speed. any thought of what that could be??

I had this problem years ago...there is a little box by the headlights I believe. I don't remember if its black or brown but when that thing gets wet it makes a whistling sound...and mine went with engine revs too..I swapped it out with another I had on hand but you might be able to dry it out...oscilator box...that's what it was called...search for it and something like a billion threads should pop up..
