car shut down ****!!!

well i went for a drive with my fiancee and got almost to the blue ridge parkway and all of a sudden it started jerking around like it was not getting fuel. so i stopped at advance and replaced the filter, and went on my way. well i went on for about 45 mins fine then it did the same thing so i shut it down. well i ended up getting it towed back home 150 dollars!!!!!!!!! well anybody got any ideas of what it could be im thinking fuel pump but not sure, i checked the igntion and its fine so any clues thanks

couple suggestions: you should get one of those clear glass fuel filters from advance or semewhere, real cheap, put in inline right before the carb, that way you can see the fuel there. If the pump checks out, you could make sure that your not getting a vaccum in the tank by having a vent clogged or somethin. That happened to me and I simply just drilled a small small hole the in the cap. just a thought, hope to see you at the meet sat.

If you have ever changed anything with the placement of the fuel lines, make sure they are all away from a heat source and shielded. The fuel in the lines can vaporize and you will not get fuel to the carb, but will act normal again when it cools down.

well i stopped and changed the filter and it took about 20 minutes to change, and it was alittle clogged so i thought that was the problem. i the pump i have is a cheap one and im running a dead head setup so imthinking its starting to screw with the pump. ill switch my ignition back over and see if it will crank today , so you can drill a small hole in the gas cap for ventage ???? well i need to get a regulator so i might make a perchase tonight and swap some stuf out during the week. thanks guys and let me know more about this vaporize and vent issue thanks

I had my tank shot and cleaned, when they sealed it, they sealed the vent holes as well. so my pump was drawing and it would create a vacuum, I just drilled a hole to let air in. the car would run for a while and the just completly shut down, wait a lil while and it would run for another lil while. prolly not your problem, but a thought

it acted like it was not getting fuel, i had it floored and it was just surging and jerking. so i shut it down, im thinking maybe fuel vapor look, but most likely the fuel pump and regulator screwed up. never had problems till this one
