Car sat for awhile, now won't start.

been a long time reader of these forums. I have been without a seven fro almost three years till today. I have owned several 2nd and a few 1st gens. I picked up a 84 gsl today 12a lsd etc etc. Well this thing was someones baby header rats nest removed etc etc. Got it home threw it p on the hoist drianed the varnish from the tank. replace fuel pump with carter pump. Have to go get a fpr sunday. any who drained oil etc etc. checked for spark on all four plugs great spark. here is the baffel since someone removed the rats nest who knows if it was done right but it apears to have been done correctly. pour a little gas down the carb poof poof fire for a few ok no biggie. check all connections double check tripple check pour a little more gas down carb nothing. Hmph must be flodded. indeed it was pul all plugs turno over etc etc mist is gone clean plugs insert back in double tripple check wires. all seems good throw a teasponn of two ccle in....nothing... maybe a little starting fluid fires runs for 30 sec on choke dies. anyway problem being runs off starting fluid and brake cleaner but not gas????? i mean i know i probally over did it a few times de flooding it. But why would it only run on brake cleaner and starting fluid and not gas????? Also is there a drain on the carb???? i know the carb is probally gummed up but i just want it to run whilest i am force feeding it to make sure motor is still good seems to be but no go on gas???? also can i get a pic of this bowl solenoid thingy???? to make sure its hooked up???? any other reason why i cant force feed it? sorry for the same old same old post but i know how to use the search button and before i had the seven again i would just read and read and read for fun so its not that i am lazy

Thanks guys

There are many recent thread on this subject. All of this has been covered again and again and again. :-)

Starting fluid and brake cleaner are way more volitale than fuel is.
The pictures for the carb parts can be found by downloading a copy of the factory carb manual.
The link can be found by going to member trochoid profile, it is in his signature.

Do a search with the terms Flooded engine. No start, won't start, etc to find all and then some on this subject.

Sorry but I am closing this down and leaving it visable so you can see the information. However there are too many of these threads and all it does it make the search even harder.
If you still have more questions then please bump up an existing thread on the subject and we can add info to it.
Thank you
