Car sat for 2 years, oil into engine before cranking? naked carb = dead carb?
I've read the FAQ for this, but didn't find any mention of it. My 85 gsl was sitting for a year or two and being actively neglected. Someone took the air filter box and distributor cap off at some point, so the carb and the distributor have been sitting naked. My questions are, do I need to put oil into the engine and turn it by hand to lubricate everything before I start it, is my carb dead from being naked, and is my distributor dead from being naked?
Whoever had this car last did a real butcher job on the wiring system. And on the fuel pump. That's been replaced with a working model, but I still can't trace whether or not it works (I have been between batteries since before I got the new pump - a college student's income isn't conducive to a fast restoration). Turning the ignition gets some lights on on the dashboard (can turn on the headlights, but can't test the radio, since someone ripped it out of the dashboard).
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

change the oil and filter, pour cap full of regular on each primary barrel then handcrank it for a few minutes. Crank the motor wihtout the spark plug wires until you get an oil pressure. thats the proper way of priming an engine that has been sitting for months.
Depending on the year, the fuel pump is controlled by the trailing coil; blue female connector thru the trailing coil's negative terminal. If still doesnt work, check for voltage in the fuel pump's + terminal. Let us know what happens next. Most of us work on 1 issue at a time

I don't even know which issue to start with. Afraid it mught be electrical, since the starter doesn't crank when I'm using the ignition, only with a direct line. I won't get to it until monday, but I'll post up the results.
