Car dies after slowing down

I have a '84 rx7 with 12a automatic and I 've changed fuel filter, plugs, wires and cap and rotor. Car will start and idle fine but when I drive down the road to a stop sign then the car suddenly dies. It will start right up again. I have a Mr. Gasket 42S fuel pump in the car when I bought it. Will this be the cause of my problem? Can anyone help me?

The two things that come to mind are the carb and the transmission. As long as the fuel pump is supplying the required volume and pressure of fuel it should be fine. If there is too much pressure it can cause problems. I would think you would have more than just your stated problem if the fuel pump was at fault.

If your idle mixture and/or idle speed isn't set correctly it may cause a stall. You can use a guide that can be located on this or other websites or a service manual. Remember to adjust your carb with the car fully warmed up. If your carb is adjusted cold you may have issues when up to temp.

If your auto transmission's torque converter is failing to slip enough when stopping it could stall the engine much like stopping a manual without depressing the clutch. I've seen that issue in other autos with the wrong type of ATF. Not familiar with RX7 autos but I imagine that could happen.

Hopefully others can suggest other possible culprits.

More info on the car. Rats nest deleted? Check your secondary's and your fuel bowl vent. Check fuel pressure, but I doubt that would be the issue since it isles fine.

The rats nest is still there. Everything is original except for the fuel pump. When I look at my float bowl there's half level. The choke plate doesn't close when I pull the manual choke inside. There's gas coming out in the carb when I step on the gas. I'm just not familiar with these carbureted engine. I bought a carb rebuild kit and holding off until something else is the culprit. Thanks for your reply

When I purchased the rx, the idle was 750 rpm. The car ran fine until I started replacing the plugs, wires, engine oil and axle oil.
My fuel sender doesn't work so I don't know how much gas I have left. I have been adjusting the mixture screw when I thought I was adjusting the idle screw. It would start and warm up and idle at around 800 rpm now. Thank you for your replay
