can't idle
today, after getting an estimate on a paint job, i'm driving home, and i put it into neutral to idle a bit, and i died.
so i open the hood to see what's up...big vaccum leak in the rats nest. the line from the (for the lack of a better word) pod thing closest to the firewall busted off and took it's little mount with it. so there's no way i can fix it back on.
bleh. LAME. only 24 hours after i paid $700 to get new brakes.
i swear, my car KNOWS when i've spend a bunch of money on it and i'm just gonna maintain it for a while. *grumble*

Hey what kind of slotted rotors and pads did ya get?? Do you notice a big difference from the stockers?
Back when I had my rat's nest one of the solenoids broke like that, and I got a replacement at the local rx7 junkyard for free.
If you ask me, I think your rex is just begging you to junk the rat's nest... It wants to be FREE!!!

I'd junk that rat's nest in a new york minute, but i still have to pass emissions for another 3 years or so. :/
I'll have to go find that part. There's donor car on the way home from work, so looks like i'll be hittin' her up.
/edit: almost forgot: the slotted rotors i got are lame-o schucks brand, and so are the pads. they didn't cost much more than the OE spec replacements, so i decided to go for it. ever since i've owned the car, the brakes have been on the brink of failure - so i'm sure brakes of ANY kind will have me impressed 8 months of pedal-to-the-floor stopping, and now i just have to set my foot on the pedal to come to a jerky stop. it's wonderful.

stopped by the boneyard and got the part that had broken. they wanted $5 for it. that was fine. i had $7 in my pocket. enough left over to get a soda at ampm on the way home.
put it in at home. i guess it works.
project for tomorrow: fuel filter and rb midpipe.
