Can't get the windows adjusted
I just replaced the window seals and glass channel on both side of my car, and now I can't get the window on the driver's side adjusted so that it 1) goes up straight and 2) stays in the channel. Anybody have experience with this that can offer some hints?
Thanks,
Rich

Recheck that the new channels are fully seated in the tracks. Does the front ot rear of the glass drag when going up, and then pitch? The bottom of the tracks have a bolt that can be loosened and the track widened or narrowed.

Possible fix?
Say, don't know if this will help, but we had similar problems on a 83. Neither (manual) window seemed to want to go up right or stay in their tracks. If you're talking about the long vertical channel inside towards the front of each door, they seemed to lose their tracking ability due to age. We removed the lower screw and drilled a new hole about a quarter of an inch (toward the rear) from the original hole and they hold perfectly now. (Obviously, keep the window rolled up when you drill so you don't hit the glass with the drill bit.) Just a thought.

Check to see if the top horizontal section is strait; no bows.
Check to see if the vertical section is at an angle that matches the body closely. On this part, it appeared to me that the years of closing would tend to push it outward, as I found mine. A push/bend inward on the frame improved my door sealing and window operation.

Check this...
Rich,
If, and I say IF the problem is what I described above (...If you're talking about the long vertical channel inside towards the front of each door...) then it's easy to check. Remove the door panel. With the window up, remove that lower screw on the vertical channel and (I think there's a top "pivot" screw you need to loosen too) slowly crank the window down (watch your fingers) while pulling gently rearward on the bottom of that vertical channel bar. If the window now properly "tracks" up and down then guestimate where the new hole has to be drilled. We actually drilled sort of a downward angled oblong hole (drill and round file) to make precise adjustments. If your problem ends up being the regulator (non-power) itself I can probably send you one from my son's "parts car" (with his permission?) for you to try and if it works just send me/him the shipping charge. [Of course, the regulator may not be the problem at all if it only began when you replaced the seals and channels on both windows. It may simply be another adjustment as others have suggested.]

I finally got mine to work better by increasing the size of the holes for the 2 bolts toward the rear, and pushing the rear bolt to the top and the other one to the bottom. But I think what helped the most was lubricating the channel at the points that are rubber, rather than felt. I was going to take pictures and update this thread but never got around to it. There are three places I lubed: each of the top corners, and the change of direction on the front of the window just above the body line. If this doesn't make sense I'll take some pictures tomorrow...too much beer tonight.
By the way, I did the mod that ChasRX did too...it helped some, but the window still came out of the channel.
